I haven’t updated about my 100 days of walking in a few weeks. Well, I have kept it up for 19 days now. The start date moved to June 19. I haven’t done my 10,000 steps for today, but will get them done before midnight.
My goal has changed a bit. Instead of my goal being 10,000 steps a day for 100 days, I have changed to walking 1,000 miles by December 19. I am currently at 90 miles. The purpose of this walk is to honor my mom’s memory and to raise money for brain tumor research.
My mom died on March 1, 2011. She was 57 years old. 10 days from her 58th birthday. I haven’t lost my desire to find a cure for brain tumors. So many people are affected by them. To me, it’s one of the worse forms of cancer. It changes people’s personalities and affects their lives in ways that some other forms do not. My mom’s tumor was a meningioma. It was non cancerous. But it sure did a number on her ability to take care of herself. I think one of the worst things for her was the fact that she didn’t feel like she could understand things like she used to. So many things were overwhelming to her. She didn’t feel like herself anymore.
The organization I am raising money for is the National Brain Tumor Society. They were the organization I received my information from when my mom was sick. And they’ll continue to be the organization that I make a difference with.
If you’d like to keep up to date with my 1,000 mile journey, you can follow me on my new Facebook Page, 1,000 Miles For Brain Tumor Research. I have been updating that Page far more often than I update my blog. You can always just keep updated through my blog, too. I’ll do my best to give better updates on my progress. 🙂
If you’d like to donate to the National Brain Tumor Society on behalf of my walk, please go to my fundraising page on their site:
If you feel so include, I also ask that you share my Facebook Page (if you’re on FB of course) and also share my fundraising page via NBTS. 1,000 thanks for any ways that you can support.
Now to get out there tonight and walk 10,000 steps before midnight. 🙂
